The Orphans

Alone

“Always a rocking thud of a groove, their Alone release is full of songs to bang your head along with. And we finally get a chick singer that's not sounding like Joplin or a 5 year old. It's a nice mix right in between - a great rock voice for a female-fronted outfit.”

- Murphy, Undiscovered Radio Network

The Orphans lead singer, London, is the kind of girl who doesn’t mind grabbing you by the shirt collar and telling you exactly what she means. And when she sings, her brilliant voice is only amplified by the band’s hard-hitting rhythm section and squealing guitars. It seems only fitting then that their latest album, Alone, was recorded in the same studio where White Zombie recorded Make Them Die Slowly and the Ramones recorded Brain Drain. It certainly shares the kind of intensity that was present on both those discs. The Orphans teamed up with producer Roger Fife (Tricky, Manic Street Preachers, Antony and the Johnsons) and had the album mastered by the Grammy Award winning team at AIRSHOW Mastering.

London is the newest member of the band and she really brings it to a new level. But the Orphans wouldn’t exist without founding members Mike (guitars) and Eduardo (guitars), Alfonse (drums), and Gesha (bass). This is a first name basis only kind of band. There really is a sense that this group is pouring their heart out to their audience. Lyrics like “What’s the point to be alive if I just hate it all?” and “Come closer so I can feel your breath. Are you afraid of death? I’m not afraid” speak raw unfiltered emotions straight from the gut. They’re reminiscent of Brody Dale and SPINNERETTE or a modern resurrection of BIKINI KILL.

The Orphans are based in New York and have played legendary venues like the China Club, Hammerstein Ballroom, Irving Plaza and CBGB.
