Margo Price and Sierra Hull to Guest DJ on SiriusXM’s Grateful Dead Channel

Prior to the inaugural Dead Ahead Festival, the Grateful Dead Channel on SiriusXM will feature special guest DJ sets from Sierra Hull and Margo Price, two event participants. The musicians with Grateful Dead ties, via members like Bill Kreutzmann and Bobby Weir, will turn up for previously scheduled appearances and spin some of their favorite Dead material. Impending sets from Hull will occur at midnight on Thursday, Dec. 21, followed by another curated round of music played at 10 a.m. E.T., that same day. Then, on Saturday, Dec. 23, the mandolinist will continue her takeover of the airways with another DJ set slated for 5 p.m. E.T. Her final appearance will occur on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 9 a.m. E.T.

The Disco Biscuits Announce 2024 Tour Expansion

In the wake of a monumental 2023, The Disco Biscuits are set to embark on an even more ambitious journey in 2024. The iconic band, known for their fusion of electronic and rock elements, have announced a robust winter/spring tour, aptly named the Why We Dance Tour.

The band’s 2023 highlights included over 70 shows, a triumphant return to the West Coast after more than a decade, and the successful launch of their new festival, BISCOLAND. Far from resting on their laurels, The Disco Biscuits are gearing up for an equally eventful 2024.

Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese is set to curate a memorial tribute in the heart of Los Angeles, celebrating the life and musical legacy of Robbie Robertson. The event, titled Robbie Robertson: A Celebration of His Life and Music, is slated to take place at The Village Studios on Nov. 15, 2023. Last summer, after time away from the stage, Neil Young made his grand return, taking part in a solo West Coast jaunt dubbed the Coastal Tour.

The appearances marked the lapse of a four-year cycle sans live shows, making for a humble comeback for the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer. As a follow-up, Young took to his Neil Young Archives, alluding to the possibility of an impending Love Earth tour.

The letter, shared late last week, started with a heartfelt introduction scribed by the artist, who wrote, “I hope you and your families are doing well at this time. With the world marred in wars, it’s a good time to think of family and those you love, trying to make their days a little better.”

Last month, we reported that Alchemy Copyrights, LLC, trading as Concord, had agreed terms on a deal whereby it would acquire the entirety of Round Hill Music Royalty Fund (RHM) – the UK-listed fund operated by Round Hill Music – if it could secure RHM’s shareholder approval.

That approval is now in the bag.

The deal values the entire issued and to-be-issued share capital of RHM – which currently trades on the London Stock Exchange – at approximately USD $468.8 million.

Les Claypool has confirmed the release of Adverse Yaw: The Prawn Song Years Box Set, a five-album set collecting his 2000s solo recordings. The compilation will officially drop on Feb. 9, via his own Prawn Song Records.

Documenting music recorded during the past almost 25 years, Adverse Yaw: The Prawn Song Years Box Set, will feature his work with The Fearless Flying Frog Brigade (Live Frogs Sets 1 & 2Purple Onion) and Colonel Claypool’s Bucket of Bernie Brains (The Big Eyeball In the Sky), as well as his solo LPs (Of Whales & WoeOf Fungi & Foe), which featured members of The Fancy Band. The bassist admits that part of the reason for releasing the box set is to help organize his catalog on streaming services.

Third Man Records to Deliver 2004 “Ball and Biscuits” Collaboration Between The White Stripes and Bob Dylan

Third Man Records has announced the release of the 58th installment of their Vault series with The White Stripes – Live in Las Vegas. Paired with the 2003 set is a special bonus 7” featuring Bob Dylan’s 2004 performance of the eternal White Stripes favorite “Ball and Biscuit” featuring Jack White, and on the flip side, the first-ever performance of the track.
