“Top 100 Most Influential Guitarists of All Time” by Vintage Guitar Magazine
Grammy® nominee ARLEN ROTH is somewhat of a Renaissance Man – a teacher, an author, and a musician. Arlen, the “Master of the Telecaster,” began his long music career at the tender age of nine. In 1970, his band performed at the 1st Annual Woodstock Reunion Concert, and soon after he moved to the town of Woodstock.
Since those early days, he has traveled the world, performing and recording with countless acts such as Simon & Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, John Prine, and The Bee Gees, just to name a few. Releasing numerous albums over many years, Arlen’s first album, Guitarist, won the Montreaux Critics Award for Best Instrumental Album of 1978. His twelfth album, All Tricked Out!, garnered four Grammy® nominations. Other albums, including Slide Guitar Summit and Telemasters feature a who’s who of iconic special guests such as Johnny Winter, Rick Vito, Vince Gill, and Steve Cropper. Arlen has been the recipient of many honors; he was included in the “Top 50 Acoustic Guitarists of All Time” by Gibson.com and in the “Top 100 Most Influential Guitarists of All Time” by Vintage Guitar Magazine. Gibson featured a series of Arlen’s online lessons and blogs which amassed one million followers.
He has 8 best-selling books to his credit, including a compilation of his 10 years of wildly popular columns for Guitar Player Magazine. His guitar lesson videos have sold in excess of 2.5 million copies. Venturing into film, Arlen was also the man behind the legendary Blues film, Crossroads, creating the guitar parts, directing the guitar scenes, and working alongside Ry Cooder and Ralph Macchio for seven months in Mississippi and in L.A. Arlen continues his excellence with the release of Blues Grass, a sublime slice of Americana guaranteed to captivate listeners.
Arlen is joined by The Rank & File Band; his daughter Lexie adds vocals to a number of the tracks and guest Jimmy Vivino lends his amazing talents to “Ruby Are You Mad at Your Man.” Blending heartfelt storytelling, masterful musicianship, and the rich soul of roots music, this latest collection is destined to become an instant favorite for longtime fans and new listeners alike.
