When OG8 first became a band, it became immediately clear that all members were feeling overlooked and underappreciated. Rather than be jaded and take a negative approach, the industry veterans vowed to create music that entertained and healed. Listeners soon learned they rocked – with 2025-26 releases “W.O.M.A.N” and “Change”. Now with the new album Recognize, due October 24 via Beat Farm Music, listeners will soon hear the band’s range and lyric sincerity. “Wide Open” encapsulate the Americana-canvas for the band; still at their core is the robust, emotive delivery from lead singer Jaime Lynch, a multiple winner of “Best of Las Vegas” for her powerful vocals and stage presence for Pussycat Dolls, Peep Show, Vegas The Show and more, and founder and lead guitarist, Troy Williver’s encompassing riffs. The single further pushes the band’s evolving songwriting and immediate rapport. In “Wide Open” the song moves like a journal entry carrying the listener into a cinematic horizon fueled with western tones and brightness. Williver’s adventurous childhood – summers spent racing motorcycles and even Quarter Midgets across the country– before homebase became a 61-acre Oregon farm served the perfect background for unlimited dreaming and imagination. “All of the songs on ‘Recognize’ are culmination of mine and Jaimie’s life experiences,” he said. “We’re writing our next chapter.
In ‘Wide Open’ I’ve always loved the natural tones of country music. They make me feel like I’m hearing the truth. I like honesty, throw a little twang in there. No barriers. I hate barriers!” Bent on being a band that doesn’t rely on a record label for both success and acknowledgment, in early 2023 Williver established Beat Farm Music. From there, the OG8 band took hold.
Williver’s search for a vocalist that matched the values and could both command the stage and captivate the audience in a way that accentuates OG8’s eclectic rock-Americana-blues sound led him to Lynch. For OG8 equally paramount to the actual music is the recognition that they have a bond and a central mission, they can look in the mirror and see that they are doing meaningful work. They are unapologetically true to themselves. Their origin story is rooted in decades of musical collaboration, friendship and a shared ideological belief system of love of music over pursuit of ego. Drummer Michael Thomas Underwood III, Renato Caranto on saxophone, George Mitchell on keyboard, bassist Phil Baker and sound engineer Drew Canulette round out the band. OG8 is based in Portland, Oregon.
