“The Marc Rossi Group’s Mantra Revealed is a bridge between the exotic and the sublime. This music is intercultural, wonderfully inventive and dynamic.” – Walter Kolosky
“…Very nice indeed, not only the time signatures, but the modulations…”
Composer and pianist Marc Rossi’s music combines the best of the East and the best of the West, delivering unique, uplifting, exuberant music that draws upon influences from jazz masters, Indian music, World Music, and much more. On Wednesday, April 18th, the group will be joined by guest Indian vocalist Geetha Ramanathan Bennett for the release of their new album Mantra Revealed at Ryles Jazz Club. Mantra Revealed fantastically blends the music of two distinctive musical cultures, combining Eastern instrumentation and modal ideas with American jazz. With diverse musical images and influences, Marc Rossi has created 9 songs that contain an entire world of sound. Mantra Revealed has a distinctive voice and unique qualities that effectively converge previously separated musical cultures.
The Marc Rossi Group, performing at Ryles Jazz Club, includes: Marc Rossi, composer and keyboards; Lance Van Lenten, saxophones and flute; Bill Urmson, bass; Mauricio Zottarelli, drums; and features Geetha Ramanathan Bennett, Indian vocals.
