Guitarist, composer and producer FREDI SHEHADI releases his new album ’Bout Time on September 25 via Rupert Mountain Records. Recorded at Grand Street Recording in Brooklyn, the eight-track collection brings together compositions written across nearly two decades alongside pieces completed only recently, marking a new chapter for an artist whose career has taken him through an unusually wide range of musical and creative endeavors. “I’ve spent a lot of my musical life working in very diverse situations, and many times I chose to follow opportunities when they presented themselves. I’m grateful for all of it.
But at some point I realized it was time to bring the focus back to my own music — to the things I wanted to say as an artist. In that sense, ’Bout Time feels a little like coming home. That’s the joke in the title, except it really isn’t a joke at all. It was time.” ‘Bout Time is an instrumental/vocal record rooted in contemporary jazz/blues, and moves freely through acoustic and electric finger style guitar work, Americana and some cinematic territory. Underneath it all is the affection for melody, rhythm and the belief that a piece of music can be playful, with the freedom to breathe and surprise. The spirit of discovery is at the heart of this record.
