Emmy Award-winning guitarist, composer, and recording artist FREDI SHEHADI releases his second single “Dance Of Begur”! The recording is the latest preview from his forthcoming album, ‘Bout Time, and showcases another side of Shehadi’s musical voice—one that draws inspiration from the colors, rhythms, and landscapes of Spain’s breathtaking Costa Brava. Named after the hilltop village of Begur, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, “Dance Of Begur” was inspired by the joy, beauty, and energy Shehadi experienced while traveling through the region.
Rather than simply portraying a destination, the composition captures the feeling of being there—warm coastal evenings, winding stone streets, breathtaking views, and a spirit that naturally invites music and movement. Reflecting on the inspiration behind the piece, Shehadi says: “There’s something about the Mediterranean that has always spoken to me. My family’s roots reach back to Lebanon and Italy, and when I stood in Begur overlooking the sea, it felt strangely familiar—as though I had come home to a place I’d never lived. That feeling became the inspiration for ‘Dance Of Begur’.” Recorded live in New York City, the performance captures the spontaneity and chemistry of musicians creating together in real time.
Shehadi moves from the warm, rounded voice of a Gibson ES-335 to the brighter, more expressive sound of a Fender Stratocaster, giving the piece an evolving sonic character as it unfolds. Rich guitar melodies intertwine with expressive saxophone lines before the music launches into a thrilling closing section in 7/4 time, building momentum to a powerful and unexpected finale.
