“Antarctica” is the new single from TOM CIURCZAK’s (“Sir-zack”) upcoming album by the same name. “Antarctica” is haunting tale inspired by the real history of Deception Island, where the Hektor company established Antarctica’s only land-based commercial whaling station. Abandoned in 1931, it became a famous ghost town renowned in the paranormal community for sightings of orbs, shadow figures, and disembodied voices. The narrative centers on a main character who moves to Whalers Bay to work for the company and the constant warnings about the ghosts of all the Dead Whales that haunt it. A blend of 1970s progressive rock and Led Zeppelin influences, the “Antarctica” is bookended by a cinematic, Captain Nemo / Phantom of the Opera style B3 organ to deliver an eerie intro and outro. Southern California singer/songwriter Tom Ciurczak delivers a powerful blend of heartland rock, Americana, and character-driven songwriting inspired by artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Warren Zevon, and Steve Earle. Backed by a dynamic five-piece band featuring soaring harmonies, expressive guitar work, and energetic live performances, Ciurczak’s music combines cinematic storytelling with driving rock-androll energy.
A longtime songwriter and performer, Ciurczak has released multiple critically praised albums, including Yorick, which was voted Album of the Year in the 2025 in the Americana Highways Readers Poll among more than 500 Americana releases. Ciurczak recently completed recording his upcoming album, Antarctica, at the legendary Sunset Sound Recorders in Hollywood, where artists such as The Doors, The Rolling Stones, and Van Halen have recorded landmark albums. The band features Ken Harrill (lead guitar), Phil Stein (bass), Chris McKinney (keyboards), Sean Derksen (drums), and Melissa Robin (backing vocals).
